New Spider-Man Posters Online
Spidey turns on the night

16 April 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

Partly because the signs are promising and partly because we're fast running out of arachnid puns, the release of The Amazing Spider-Man can't come quickly enough in these parts. And you'll have noticed from the steady proliferation of Spidey goodies that the date is drawing closer.

These noiry new one-sheets follow up the movie's new trailer earlier today. Interesting to see Spidey's suit looking battle-damaged, presumably after encountering the sharp end of The Lizard's claws.

If you've seen Battleship and you're worried that science will probably destroy us all in the end, there's little comfort here. Look, it's Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) doing suspiciously scientific things in his lab! Surely no good can come of this. And there's Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) swotting up on her chemistry! They're basically a Beaker away from forming a boffin Avengers.

The Amazing Spider-Man is out in the UK on July 4.

Spidey's suit NOT looking battle-damaged
I think in your description of the poster, you got this wrong. I think its the effect of the web going around him. Its more like he's caught inside his own web.. More

RE: New Spider-Man Posters Online
I think that Spideman 3 was a little overlong and overstuffed. There was plenty that coulda been chopped - the ridiculous dance number being job one!! - but it seemed that the studio went a bit mental. There were some good aspects to it, not lease of all the addition of Venom. But what could have been a real dark but wonderful finish to a trilogy was a bit of a mis step all round. More

L: King of Kafiristan For the sake of the future of cinema, I hope not. Box office is politics. If this movie does well, ill be a drastic constriction on the amount of new material entering the green light pipeline./quote] We're already there, dude. More

L: Filmlounger Not keen on this reboot so soon after the last "edition" but I guess after the third one, no one was going to watch the forth. 'm not sure I agree - it made shitloads at the box office! A lot may not have been impressed but it was still not exactly a flop. More

RE: Key points
I should clarify that I'm not averse to the mechanical shooters, and totally agree with the dramatic potential - I just think it might require a bit too much shoe-horning / suspension of disbelief in a film that seems to be pretty full already. I really don't want to become an anti-anti-organic web-shooter fanboy actually, so I'll not mention those again since I don't actually care enough about that aspect of the story! I don't have a problem with a fresh start for the franchise either - i More

RE: New Spider-Man Posters Online
L: MonsterCat I'm still of the opinion that it's still way too early for the franchise to start afresh. I mean, will people turn out in their droves to see another origin story for this character when the first one is only ten years old? For the sake of the future of cinema, I hope not. Box office is politics. If this movie does well, there will be a drastic constriction on the amount of new material entering the green light pipeline: THE MATRIX REBOOTED More

the second poster actually reminds me of the one they had for Spiderman 3...Pretty generic really. Liked the first one a while back with Parkers shadow casting that of a spider. That was better. Still probably go see it! More

L: jedi_theforce Why do they have to have spiderman without his mask all the bloody time? I thought his identity was secret? The idiotic moviemakers just want andy garfields face all over the screen without thinking of the story or character. face it guys, spidey is a masked hero, if you wanted to see his face all the time make a superman film. Doh! hey are promoting a new actor in the film, so naturally the actors face will be seen prominently associated with the costume in promo mate More
