New Moonrise Kingdom Poster
Where the mild things are

13 April 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom posters are so full of the joys of spring that if you rubbed them like a magic lamp, bunny rabbits would probably bounce out. This bucolic new one-sheet assembles the full cast - admittedly Tilda Swinton's appearance is cunningly contrived via pictureframe - for a team photo.

Expect to see them all together again next month on the Croisette with the film having the honour of opening Cannes. Gallic cineastes have always taken to Anderson and his newest slice of Americana looks like continuing the love affair.

Flavoured with nostalgia, the story has the simplicity of one of Aesop's fable. Two 12 year-olds, Sam (Jared Gilman) and Suzy (Kara Hayward) fall in love on New Penzance island, run away from their small town and encounter a storm that will have a rescue party assembling.

Then, watching the trailer again, the thought returns that it's a Wes Anderson fable and that rescue party will involve the likes of Bruce Willis, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. Click below for a closer look at the characters.

Moonrise Kingdom is out on May 25. Colour us seriously excited.
