Ferrell's 3 Mississippi Finds A Director
Sean Anders will wrangle the comedy

Ferrell's 3 Mississippi Finds A Director

Though the success rate might not have been quite as high as he’d prefer (Talladega Nights good; Semi-Pro not so much), Will Ferrell clearly still sees the sports comedy genre as a viable target. Last year, it was announced he planned to reunite with Other Guys co-star Mark Wahlberg in Turkey Bowl, about rival towns clashing over a big touch football game. Things have changed since then: the project is now called 3 Mississippi and has snagged writing / directing team Sean Anders and John Morris to bring it to life.

Mississippi will see Ferrell and Wahlberg as the heads of two competing households, who have faced off every Thanksgiving. The idea was originally pitched by Owen Burke of Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions and has seen at least one draft of the script cranked out already.

Assuming the new pair locks in a deal, Anders will actually be the one handling the directing chores, after he’s finished re-writing the script with Morris. The pair previously worked together as writers on Hot Tub Time Machine and She’s Out Of My League, before graduating to Sex Drive, which marked Anders’ directorial debut. Anders is currently finishing off work on Adam Sandler’s latest comedy, That’s My Boy.

If all goes well with the re-write on Mississippi, Warner Bros. wants the film headed before cameras in September. Alec Baldwin was attached to play Wahlberg’s father in the film when it was first announced, but there’s no word on whether he’s still involved. It’s a good casting proposition, though…
