A proper Turtles film should be similar in tone and look to the early comics. A dark, gritty, R-rated noire shot in B&W (ala Sin City) with extreme martial arts action similar to The Raid. And the Turtles should be rendered digitally using the latest in motion performance technology, personally overseen by Andy Serkis and directed by Nicholas Winding Refn on a budget of no more than $100m to guarantee the rating.

I severly doubt that changing the origin will alter the plots of the TMNT stories of everyone's youth, but if you're convinced it'll ruin the turtles for you, DON'T GO SEE IT. He says hes working with the original writers, and in the original comics the goo that turned them into the mutant turtles was an alien goo from the Utroms, so it works.
