Joss Whedon On Iron Man's Suit
'I'm a classicist. The triangle is ass.'

09 March 2012  |  Written by Nick de Semlyen  |  Source: Exclusive

In London to check on composer Alan Silvestri's progress making music magic happen for Marvel Avengers Assemble, Joss Whedon took time out to chat about the other project he's got on the boil right now, The Cabin In The Woods.

That Empire interview will be landing in due course, but before it does we quizzed The World's Busiest Man on a question that's been buzzing in our brains since our first glimpse of Iron Man's new Avengers suit.

Tony Stark's suit seems to be going through a few iterations in the movie, a development that Whedon wrily attributes to "wear and tear". "Marvel said, 'We like to see the suits evolve,'" he explains, "and I said, "Great! Then you're going back to the circle because the triangle is ass'. I'm a classicist. The circle has meaning, the triangle does not."

Marvel Avengers Assemble is out on April 27. If you're looking for a fix of Whedonia before then, there's The Cabin In The Woods to get your teeth into on April 13.

L: King of Kafiristan L: rich I'm pretty sure the shape has no "meaning", it's just a uni-beam projector regardless of circular, triangular or hexagonal shapes that have been used. es I'd agree, it is a design element of the suit, not a display of symbolism. I was just talking about his assertion that the circle is a shape that interests him in his role as a "classicist", where as the triangle is to his mind devoid of meaning....just forget about the triangle trade, the holy More

RE: hahahahaha
It's hilarious to hear him say that triangles have no meaning, but whatever. I liked the triangle better but this movie still doesn't interest me, regardless of the shape used on the suit. More
