| It would appear that Dr Seuss is still good for box office business as the latest ‘toon based on his work, The Lorax, has just scored the biggest spring opening for an animated movie ever. The new Seussian film made $70.5 million in its opening weekend, handily trouncing the rest of the chart. Project X, for all its partying and madness, also scored a decent haul, making $20.5 million. Given its low budget, that should mean it’ll make a profit. Make of that what you will. The two newcomers meant Navy SEAL action pic Act Of Valor was demoted to third place, adding $13.3 million to its total. Safe House was fourth with $7.2 million and Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds fell to fifth and $7 million. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island sank to sixth place, earning $6.9 million, while The Vow was down a couple of places to seventh and $6.1 million. This Means War took eighth with $5.6 million, Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance was at ninth, taking in $4.7 million and The Artist snuck into the top 10 for the first time off the back of its Oscar haul. It notched up $3.9 million this weekend for a running total of $37 million.
