Exclusive: Sophie Okonedo On After Earth
And first look at Jaden Smith in costume

After a stint in Costa Rica, M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth is currently back and shooting in his home town of Philadelphia. With Men In Black 3 already in the can, the interplanetary epic offers the second part of a Will Smith sci-fi one-two and reunites him with his son Jaden for the first time since The Pursuit Of Happyness.

Playing mum in this rockstar on-screen family is the very talented Sophie Okonedo: "It’s a futuristic film and I play the wife of Will Smith and the mother of Jaden. We have another daughter – Zoë Kravitz - so I’m the only unknown," she laughed. "I’ve been having a really good time. They’ve all had to do loads of prep but not so much for me."

Unusually this one isn't written by Shyamalan. Stephen Gaghan and The Book Of Eli scribe Gary Whitta have penned the script which sees the two Smiths trying to survive on a now-abandoned Earth after their spacecraft crashes, while Okonedo's mother frets many parsecs away.

Jaden Smith's rubberised suit strikes a nice balance between lithe and futuristic. We'd like to see Ray Mears pulling this look off.

Expect After Earth to land sometime in June 2013.
