Resident Evil: Retribution Trailer
Alice is back...

19 January 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Sony Pictures

submit to reddit

Given the success (at the box office, at least) he had taking back the rudder of the Resident Evil series with Afterlife in 2010, it’s no surprise to see Paul WS Anderson keeping the undead horde thriving for the next instalment, Retribution. And now the first trailer can be watched below.

Retribution continues the theme of the last few films – Alice (Milla Jovovich) wakes up in the heart of an Umbrella Corporation facility and starts once more hunting those evil bastards responsible for unleashing the T-virus upon the world. Travelling between ravaged cities such as Tokyo, New York and Moscow, she digs deeper into her mysterious past and discovers a shocking revelation that might just challenge everything she believes in… And no, it’s not the thing about toast always falling butter-side down.

We’re promised a few old faces in this one (with the likes of Michelle Rodriguez and Sienna Guillory cropping up) plus a few new arrivals to the franchise. From the looks of the footage, most of what fans enjoy about the films - Jovovich in leather running, shooting guns and using a variety of other weapons - is present and correct. And there's more of the infected than you can shake a stick at (including what looks like some flying beasties).

Resident Evil: Retribution is out on September 14.

RE: All Present and Correct
Thought this was an advert for a new gadget when the trailer started. But it looks good. Kind of one of those movie you turn your brain off and enjoy the ride. Instead of making criticism, enjoy watching bullets fly and Alice taking out the big monsters. Be interesting to see how they present the fallout to the last movie's climax and how Michelle Rodriguez is back when she died in the first movie. Hopefully there will be a intreging explaination, like she got clon More

Whoa
I actually thought it was a Sony commercial then the film started. That's has got to be the most insane product placement since Wayne's Worlds parody of product placement. Not much point critiquing these films we know what they are, either you're ok to completely turn of your brain and watch a hot chick use guns in slo mo or you aren't. I'm not, unless it's on TV and there's nothing else on. More

I have no problem admitting that I actually really enjoyed the first film, although they have got progressively worse as they got on and the last 'attempt' I found actually embarrasing to watch!! Always good to see Sienne Guillory running around in very little but I just miss having Zombies to be honest :( More

RE: I've been the cinema to see every RE film
With these things there are always two camps. Fans of the Movies and Fans of the Comics/Books/Video Games. In my case I'm a fan of the games...plus I'm not really into generic action movies that have more explosions than sense. I only watched up to the third film, but are the films themselves just ignoring continuity entirely? Didn't the world end and become a desert planet in the Third film? Though how a Virus that's sole function is to regenerate dead tissue could possibly dry up o More

I've been the cinema to see every RE film
It's weird, I go with my brother and two friends who are sisters and it's become this strange, ritualistic thing we all have to do whenever a new RE film comes out. I'm not even sure we enjoy them anymore (although I did quite like the third one in the desert). I agree with some of the comments, they have absolutely nothing to do with the games which is a shame, as I imagine a genuine survival horror a la Resi 2 or the Gamecube revamped Resi 1 could be genius. Still, as long as they keep getting More

Bitches Leave!
This film is for the fans and there are plenty of them. The fourth film in the series, Afterlife, was the highest grossing so far. There's a pretty big audience for this series and Jovovich's twitter activity, keeping in near constant touch with her fanbase from the set, is pretty damn cool. More
