I cant believe some of the negativity sometimes expressed on the net for this.. its as though some people feel they have the story, the plot, and everything in between figured out by looking at the trailer that's just over 1 min long.
Most of the trailer is more than likely shot out of sequence and the film is reported to be at least two and a half hours long. More

The reason the suits were more weathered and old and shabby in the original film was because they were on a mining tug in space, a mineral collecting tug.
Here in this the same universe you have a bunch of scientists/ analysts on an exploration mission,
Is today's technology any different if you sent a science team aboard a ocean exploration vessel in comparison to say a fishing linear and their appropriate crews?. More

| It's the Land Before Aliens (ish) |
Big hint in the end titles, chap called Giger gets a credit. Also, at 0.45mins, that looks very like the space jockey chaps seat. Factor in the original alien ship, some nice green acid, and I think we've got the prequel here, and it looks good to me. But... the big thing about the original Alien was suspense and characters. Only problem, as fergww has said, is that it looks too advanced to be the precursor to the original. More

I guess I'm the only one who thinks this looks quite dull. People running down corridors; spaceships; otherworldy sculptures. We've been here before a million times. If it wasn't Ridley Scott and a supposed prequel to Alien we'd be ignoring it. Like everyone else, the trailer is superb...so was your (Empire's) breakdown of it...It all adds up to the following: a) The eggs that Kane found in Alien were not laid by a queen. ...helped me understand why I love movie trailers so much. This and The Dark Knight Rises trailer are masterclasses in giving you just enough to make you want to invent a time machine so you can skip six months and watch the films, but also because they basically don't show you anything about the film's plot and leave you guessing, then contradicting yourself, then doubting yourself before you do some more guessing before you have to take a deep breath, calm yourself down and have a wry chuckle More

My top 3 movies to see in 2012 was TDKR, The Avengers and then Prometheus.

I always suspected it would be but this is DEFFO now my most hotly anticipated movie of 2012. I think those Urns become alien eggs! Also, somebody mentioned earlier in this thread that they were dissapointed that the tech in the movie isnt in keeping with the tech in the original ALIEN and looks more advanced. This flick is going to be incredible, i was orginally gutted when i found out that the Aliens are going to be engineered by the Space Jockey's (as opposed to having their own planet) but now i don't care from what i have seen from the trailer.

if this is set before Alien, their technology looks so vastly superior to that shown in the original. The crappy brown space suits of Alien sure dont look like an improvement on these snazzy blue ones! I really liked the kind of rugged aesthetic to Alien, i think its a shame its lost here. Well, after watching this trailer, it's clear that despite the fact that we won't be seeing the aliens we know of, it's going to explain everything - the origins of the xenomorphs, face huggers and space jockeys - and i don't want the Alien saga to be ruined by being demystified like that. Therefore, i'm giving this a miss. Why oh why do filmmakers always feel the need to spell everything out when it's so much better to keep certain things a mystery? More
