Selena Gomez Is A Spring Breaker
Disney star teams with Harmony Korine

Selena Gomez Is A Spring Breaker

You're the star of a Disney Channel series, with a bit of a pop career on the side, and a boyfriend called Justin Bieber. So what's your next project? Why, a film by the director of Gummo, Julien Donkey-Boy and Trash Humpers, of course. Selena Gomez has just joined Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers. That sound you can hear is Uncle Walt spinning in his cryo-chamber.

Spring Breakers does actually sound unusually mainstream for Korine, although given that his last film involved masked octogenarian tramps having sex with dustbins, it's all relative. This one's about four college girls cutting loose and funding their spring break by robbing a restaurant. When they're arrested and jailed, they then find themselves entangled with the drug-runner who bailed them out, and who wants them to whack his main competitor.

James Franco is already attached to play the dope dealer, and Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts are aboard as two of the four girlie reprobates. So by our elaborate calculations, that means there's one more gang-member to be cast, now that Gomez is Girl Three.

"I'm really excited," Gomez told MTV. "It’s a different character than I've ever played before, and a different kind of vibe, I think, than people are used to seeing me in. What you’re going to see is more raw, I think. It’s going to be raw and more about acting.”

Shooting starts - when else? - in the spring. And remember, Johnny Depp was just a teen TV posterboy until he met John Waters and Tim Burton. At the very least, this should be a step up from Monte Carlo for the starlet.

I Am Simply Excited About This. Selena, James, Vanessa...
Ofcourse, all we have seen are the few clips on utube or other video sites. But they do look so interesting. I think I have watched all the clips, and tho for some seconds it may feel "mainstream," it still has some huge bonuses as for it being special:Selena, James, and Vanessa. But also not the least, Ashley Benson. More
