Simon West On For Dust And Glory
He's in negotiations for the racing pic

Simon West On For Dust And Glory

He’s currently busy putting Sly Stallone and company through their paces filming The Expendables 2, but Simon West already has one eye on a possible future project. The director is now in negotiations to tackle car-racing pic Dust And Glory.

Described as a romantic action-adventure that splices Mad Max with Jewel Of The Nile, the film will adapt Evan Green’s novel, set in the harsh desert territory of Australia’s outback.

Back in the ‘50s the Redex trials saw drivers from around the world competing to find the top wheelman, with a heated rivalry developing between an American newcomer and an Aussie legend.

Robert Lewis Galinsky wrote the script and is one of the producers. He’s hoping to snag West in time to kick off shooting next summer Down Under, with casting set to begin before the Christmas decorations have been taken down.

West’s last release was Jason Statham thriller The Mechanic, and he’ll next put out Nic Cage pic Stolen. He’s also busy developing CG/live-action hybrid war film Thunder Run with Gerard Butler, Matthew McConaughey and Sam Worthington all in his sights to star.
