Will Shannon's Zod Not Ask You To Kneel?
Man Of Steel's foe says the jury's out

27 October 2011  |  Written by Ali Plumb

In 2013, Michael Shannon is set to appear as General Zod in Zack Snyder's Superman movie, Man Of Steel, but after speaking to him recently about another film, Take Shelter, Shannon mentioned that his Zod might not demand Supes to get down on his knees traditionally Zod's favourite thing to do.

We've got the video clip for you below to see for yourself, but it's interesting for a number of reasons, especially as it means things are obviously still up in the air about Zod's character (and general demeanour), and it seems that Snyder and his team are considering distancing themselves from Terence Stamp's iconic portrayal of the character in Superman and Superman II

So do you want the gravel-voiced acting goliath that is Michael Shannon to request The Last Son Of Krypton to get on his knees or is that a bit too silly for this new take on Supes? Let us know in the comment box below.

Man Of Steel is set for a June 14, 2013 release.

It all depends
on why Zod wants Superman to kneel before him. I mean, just how dark is this film going to get? More

Zod the naughty man !
Given that the 're-boot' appears to be heading towards the 'darkside' as with all re-boots think how menacing ZOD could DEMAND Supes kneel before him - never before has a situation been more apt in a movie me thinks ! More

The greatest thing about Terence Stamp's performance is the way his accent (every now and then) veers between RSC received pronunciation and drawling Cockney! Gotta love Tel More

I FB 'like' the below comment. I want General Zod to say "kneel" but, frankly, what's more important is hat the character is done well. If it's a mere shadow, an imitation, of Stamp's classic performance...well then... Have to say, I am SO excited by the prospect of Zod action figures. Ok, so movies matter more than just a way to shift toys. I know. Hell The King's Speech was a fine film. But I'm still soooo exctied by that idea... More
