Mike O'Malley Joins R.I.P.D.
Along with model Marisa Miller

Mike O'Malley Joins R.I.P.D.

Supernatural cop comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. is having an attack of the Ms in its latest casting round as Glee supporting actor Mike O’Malley and Victoria’s Secret model Marisa Miller have both signed on for small roles.

R.I.P.D. will star Ryan Reynolds as a police officer cut down in the line of duty. But his work isn’t finished even though he’s passed on: he’s assigned to the titular force, a squad of deceased cops who patrol the line between the living and the dead and make sure no spirits are causing chaos. Reynolds’ character is also on the hunt for the man who killed him.

Jeff Bridges is playing his partner, a gruff, long-dead type who has seen it all before. Miller’s performance will be linked to his, as she’ll be the avatar for his spirit that living people see when he’s walking the Earth. Should make for an interesting visual…

Kevin Bacon is on board as a villain, while Mary-Louise Parker will be Reynolds' and Bridges’ boss. Plus there’s Stephanie Szostak as Reynolds’ widow, who he tries to warn about the murderer he’s tracking.

O’Malley plays Kurt’s father on Glee and is also among the writing staff for the US version of Shameless. On R.I.P.D., he’ll be ghostly character Elliot.

Miller, usually to be found gracing the pages of Sports Illustrated and lingerie ads, has cropped up on US TV in the likes of How I Met Your Mother and (of course!) Entourage. This will mark her first movie role.

And there's one other chunk of casting to announce, with The Hollywood Reporter bringing word that Blade Runner/Big Trouble in Little China's James Hong (probably best known to younger audiences as the voice of Po's father Mr Ping in Kung Fu Panda is now aboard to play Reynolds' Earthly avatar.

Red’s Robert Schwentke is kicking off shooting next week.
