Trevor Cawood Has The Karma Coalition

Trevor Cawood Has The Karma Coalition

Clearly looking to tap into some promising new talent, Warner Bros. has handed the keys for conspiracy thriller The Karma Coalition to shorts/commercials director Trevor Cawood.

The plot will find a professor discovering that the wife he thought was dead for five years might actually be alive. Her death was faked by a mysterious organisation (we’re going to guess the titular coalition) for unknown reasons, and the new information puts the academic in some serious danger, not least from a crooked detective who starts a twisted game of cat and mouse with our hero.

Warners nabbed the spec script for a solid fee from Shawn Christensen, whose day job is as lead singer and guitar player for New York-based indie band stellarstarr* (that asterisk is part of their name, not a link to a forgotten footnote).

Cawood, meanwhile, has been grabbing attention after making respected ads for the likes of Citroen and Star Wars 'toon Clone Wars and especially his short film Terminus, which was praised for its odd style. You can take a look at that one here. Oh, and he also co-owns a visual effects house, overseeing work on the likes of District 9 and Cowboys and Aliens. So if Karma Coalition needs any effects work done, he can probably get a deal…
