Pearl Jam Twenty Trailer Online
Cameron Crowe documents the band...

It might not exactly have been 20 years in the making, but Pearl Jam Twenty, Cameron Crowe’s exhaustive, exclusive and enticing peek at the rise, challenges and success of Seattle birth band Pearl Jam certainly carries at lot of years under its belt, as the trailer makes clear. You can take a look below, provided you can stop resting your head on a pillow made of concrete.

Given Crowe’s friendship with Eddie, Stone, Jeff and the rest of the Pearls stretching back to before they were even a musical outfit (the lads also crop up in Crowe’s Seattle-set love story Singles), it’s no shock to learn that he was granted full access to their archive of footage, a good chunk of which he himself shot.

PJ20 features the likes of Neil Young, Chris Cornell, David Lynch (who provides a typically surreal opening gambit for the trailer with his halting questions to Eddie Vedder) and even the late, lamented Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain.

Crowe is clearly rebounding from the disappointment of 2005's Elizabethtown with enthusiasm, is ready to launch himself back on the scene with this and two other big projects – Elton John music doc The Union and his new film We Bought a Zoo, starring Matt Damon.

The doc will have its world premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and will then launch a series of screenings across the US before airing on PBS in October. There’s no word on a UK release just yet, but we can’t wait…

For fans like myself an absolute must. It was an excellent documentary that shows, as always in these kind of films, the rise (and in the case of Pearl Jam) rise again of the band.
