World Exclusive: Fright Night Trailer
'You read way too much Twilight'

27 July 2011  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

World Exclusive: Fright Night Trailer

Colin Farrell was a busy man at Comic-Con. One minute he was introducing footage from Fright Night, the next he was shimmying across the San Diego Convention Center to talk Total Recall. We'd like to think he followed that up by slipping into his Chewbacca costume to roam the exhibition floor, though he's probably more of a Boba Fett kinda guy.

Both of his movies are shaping up to be stupid amounts of fun, and this new international trailer for Craig Gillespie's horror remake only amps up our anticipation levels still further.

The new Fright Night promo squeezes in plenty of jugular-chewing, tooling up and Vegas-set carnage. Initially it plays like a flighty high-school drama, with Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) and 'Evil' Ed Thompson (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) hanging out and squabbling as friends do, before a sudden shift in tone and, bang, the dark heart of the film, Farrell's Jerry Danbridge, is front and centre.

Chris Sarandon made the role his own in the 1985 original but Farrell seems to be tackling it with a twinkle in his eye and real brooding menace. Original Fright Night fans may cock a skeptical eyebrow, but it looks like a role he was born to play.

Fright Night
is out in 3D on September 2 but you can catch it exclusively at Empire Presents... Big Screen on August 14. David Tennant himself will be at the 02 to introduce it and dish out the popcorn*. Head here for all the details.
