Welcome To The Punch Starts Shooting
Strong and McAvoy shoot to thrill

19 July 2011  |  Written by Ali Plumb

Welcome To The Punch Starts Shooting

For those not in the know, Welcome To The Punch is a new British thriller starring James McAvoy, Mark Strong and Andrea Riseborough, and it's shooting in 3 Mills Studios as of round about... now.

We bring this news to your attention not just because it contains Mark Strong and we do love Mark Strong, just check out his videblogisode appearances but also because it's being directed by Eran Creevy, who brought us 2008's Shifty

Now Shifty was a fanastic debut, made on a microscopic budget (just £100k) and delivering a dramatic, exciting story with next to no financial leeway so naturally we can't wait to see what he's going to do with a bit more money behind him, as well as the great cast he's assembled.

Plus, there's the plot, which sounds pretty intriguing, based as it is around two criminals (Strong and McAvoy) whose hatred for each other has to be set aside when they both uncover a "bigger conspiracy".

Or something like that, anyway, details are a little thin on the ground at the moment, but the chance of seeing this talent, both behind and in front of the camera, is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Oh, and did we mention? Peter Mullan, David Morrissey, Johnny Harris and Daniel Mays (also seen in Shifty) will round out the rest of the cast. In other words, definitely file this one under "very, very interesting".
