Various dodgy copies have been floating around the interwebs for the last few days, but here's an official, sanctioned, clean copy of The Dark Knight Rises' teaser trailer, in all its Batman-y goodness.
And what does it give away? Well, not a vast amount. After a few bits of old footage and a reminder of Liam Neeson's advice to the would-be caped avenger way back in Batman Begins, we get just a few tidbits of new stuff. We have reason to believe that Gary Oldman's Commissioner Gordon suffers some sort of debilitation, whether due to illness or injury (surely he's too busy fighting crime to get sick?), and has a little chat with Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale). "We were in this together, and then you were gone. And now this evil rises. The Batman has to come back."
"What if he doesn't exist anymore?" asks Wayne.
"He must. He must," mutters Gordon.
Oooh, shivers. There's a glimpse of Bane's masked face, and a more-than-a-little Inception-y falling-buildings scene, outlining the Bat symbol (think publicity campaign rather than actual footage), and that's your lot. Well you weren't expecting Nolan to give away much this far out, were you?
The Dark Knight Rises also stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and is due for release on July 20, 2012. A year and two days: bring it on!
I have to say that most the DC films (except the Green Lantern, that was crap) have been EPIC and left Marvel trailing in the dust. Marvel's just 90 mins of action and weak story. DC have truly awesome films and kicks arse, and I expect this'll eat the Avengers up for breakfast and spit them out this summer coming. More

Prepare
Opinions are like @$$holes, people. Everybody has one. I predict after its release and it demolishes competition and box office records, it will bow upon being crowned either second or third highest grossing film ever. As we all know, Nolans second outing was at one point the second highest grossing film behind Titanic before Avatar was released. That said, I would like to say Nolan is a directing god in my book. The fight scenes in this are gonna be brutal and hard to watch. I'd like to see it pushed up to a 15 rating. Batman is gonna get the shit kicked out of him!
eally? if its filmed anything like the other two we aint seeing anything.
great teaser, exactly what a teaser should be. but i dont like the look of bane looks shite. More

Is it weird to excited over a trailer that only features around 20 seconds of new footage?
Yes it is.
I havent actually even bothered watching it yet. ote]
Fucking killjoy. I'm out of work and I haven't gotten my end off in three years. Don't deny me these simple little pleasures, Shool. More

The man in the well?
Why is no one discussing the guy climbing out of the well? Who is this? I don't remember this shot from Batman Begins. Will Bane share some traits with Bruce, fell down a well but had one to rescue him, so has fought for himself all along a twisted version of Batman?? Any thoughts. More
If memory serves...
G We were in this together...Then you were gone...Now, this evil...rises...The Batman must come back
BW (voice, may or may not be from the scene depicted) What if he doesn't exist anymore
G (wheezing more than before) He must...he must...
Perhaps not verbatim, but pretty close. It's not really that hard to hear, is it? More

The Trailer is real
The trailer is definitely real and has been posted in HD on the dark knight rises website. It definitely seems rushed but i still really enjoyed it. it's exactly how Nolan would have liked it, it really gives nothing away and just makes you wonder about what's going on in Gotham. I'm excited for them to start their viral campaigns but it probably wont be for a few weeks at the earliest since the teaser trailer was just released.
As for those who posted that this trilogy seems rushed and c More

Doesn't give one an orgasm as The Dark Knight's teaser did, but does whet the appetite. I really rate Hardy but is Bane really the villain to have in the conclusion? As always, I'll keep faith in Nolan. He aint done ewt bad yet.... More
I think the teaser is simply just to excite eager fans. Personally I would have prefered them to wait abit until they gave a proper trailer. As this seems like a random bunch of clips and promo stuff put together with little coherance. Just abit of simplicity would have been more effective if anything. More

RE: Sorry To See It End
I also feel like this series is being somewhat prematurely ended. I think there was definitely scope for one more film, having said that if the 3rd one matches the quality of the previous 2 then we would have a contender for the greatest trilogy ever on our hands and perhaps we should be pleased it wont be tarnished by never ending sequels?
The instant reboot WB is talking about is extremely disappointing though. I would personally love Batman to go on a 10 year hiatus and then the whole t More
I reckon thats probably going to be the case with Batman gone theres no one to deal with Bane ..should be a pretty climactic fight scene between them More

If there is an art to making teaser trailers, that's the way to do it. Precious details but with Nolan they always seem to take on a greater significance. More

Apart from about 4 shots there was nothing to see here. Pointless trailer. They should've just stuck to releasing more images for now.. I know a teaser isn't meant to give much away, but come on!
y sentiments exactly... Just slip us some stills every few weeks, and save a good teaser trailer for Oct / Nov! This is such a waste of time!
xcept the teaser was shown in front of Harry Potter, which just broke the US opening record.

So are we to take from that, that Commisioner Gordon now knows Batmans identity. I'm not sure that I like that idea
o, but to tell how that's not the case would be spoiling it.

ot necessarily. Remember when Bruce first approached Gordon, he wasn't in his Batmnan guise then. He wore a balaclava and used his normal voice rather than he raspy one. 5"]*Spoiler*........................................... ....................................................... ....................................................... ...
