Dark Knight Rises Teaser Poster Arrives
Gotham's in a sorry state...

12 July 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Warner Bros.

Things are certainly heating up in the world of The Dark Knight Rises, as the first proper teaser poster for the film has arrived online and can be viewed below.

The image is a striking look at part of Gotham City crumbling into ruins, with the Bat logo starkly outlined in the centre. There’s no hint as to what this might mean for the film’s plot – or even if it has a correlation – but it’s definitely cool.

Admittedly, it shows even less than the Sherlock Holmes sequel posters that arrived yesterday, yet this new image from Christopher Nolan’s latest – and likely final – Bat-venture is stylish, moody and eminently teasing. Essentially everything we’ve come to expect from ads for his Gotham-set movies and a spot earned in our pantheon of great teaser posters.

Lest you have forgotten, the cast includes Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, Burn Gorman, Nestor Carbonell, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Matthew Modine and Tom Conti.

We’ve been promised the first proper teaser trailer landing in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 this week, so expect to find that cropping up online before long. Now starts the long wait until July 20 next year, when the whole thing will hit cinemas…

That's for real. And It seems to me what appears to be 'Bane's Theme' uses the same two notes as the Jaws theme, reversed and played slower. More

L: Dr FlexiJerkOff Everybody zoom in on the bottom left corner. Can you see it. Look closely. See it yet. Look closer. thats right, It,s an on-set picture of Anne Hathaway being taken up the chuff by Christian Bale. Oh for God's sake please stop with the "I can see this, I can see that" crap. There are no hidden pics or symbols in this poster, period. sp; But where is the fun in that? ahh I would agree some sugestions are rediculous More

RE: Oh yes, oh yes please
Very evocative poster. And you actually have to check the title of the film is even on it at first look. The power of symbols... Incidentally, yet another take on the image: It's the end of the story, The Dark Knight has risen to smash through the darkness and let in the light. He has died (in terms of Gotham's faith in him) and he has been resurrected, and he ascends into myth, or to put it another way, "/i], Mr Wayne" More

L: crazymoviesdude L: enigmachine "There’s no hint as to what this might mean for the film’s plot" Well, yes there is. It is the hint. There's a hole where Batman used to be and the city is crumbling without him. It couldn't be much more obvious. Don't miss the wood for the trees, folks! If you remember how the last ended, and what Batman had to do, it makes perfect sense. This film will pick up from there / from that idea. wouldn't say that it's a hint for the plo More
