Schwarzenegger Back Aboard Last Stand

Despite thoughts that the public relations scandal grenade that detonated his marriage and pushed his plans around might mean that Arnold Schwarzenegger would have to abandon his film schedule indefinitely, you’ve got to remember that when Hollywood is involved, the ship can right itself faster than you might think. Which goes some way to explaining why the Austrian Oak is now back on board Korean director Kim Jee-Woon’s Western pic Last Stand.

It’ll mark the English-language debut of the man who made the likes of The Good, the Bad and the Weird and I Saw the Devil, and will be based on Andrew Knauer’s Blacklist-featured script, which finds a drug cartel commander going up against a small-town sheriff looking at the end of his career.

"It's an old-fashioned Western specifically designed for a 63-year-old broken-down guy with a moral decision whether Arnold decides to stand up for his town,” a Lionsgate spokesbod told Deadline. “We always needed an iconic figure for it."

Well, Arnie’s reputation has certainly broken down recently. Given that he was on board, then left the project just before his infidelity scandal broke and is now back, this will likely be his toe dipping in the cinematic waters to see if people still want to see him on screen after everything that has happened…

Has Kim gone nuts? A few of the major SK directors seem to be going to an English language film, but to waste that talent on a useless immobile action figure like Schwarzenegger is an appalling decision. p; Unless the synopsis includes a Seagal Executive Decision moment, a complete non-starter. More

Truely Interesting
I'm an unashamed Arnie fan, Western aficionado and a follower of Woon's work. This looks really interesting. It'll be great to have Arnie back on the big screen and in a western no less. Woon makes great films and hopefully his american debut will be a success. It's probably too much to ask that it doesnt turn out PG13 though. More
