New Muppets Poster Online
Gonzo journalism ahoy

11 July 2011  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to meet The Muppets on this, um, brand new promo poster. And here's pretty much the whole crew, Swedish Chef aside, lining up for a team photo. Bork.

The plot sees the Muppets reassembled by Kermit when the world's biggest Muppets fan, Walter, uncovers a devilish plot by oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to destroy the Muppet Theatre and drill below it for oil. Helping the furry friends out are Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams), who plan a telethon to bag $10 million and save the day. It's basically Beaker versus Treadstone.

Add this poster to a cleverly executed campaign with a couple of teasers riffing on hammy* genre clichés and a full-blown trailer with Fozzie in fart shoes and Animal tearing stuff up. How could anyone not want to see this movie? The Muppets opens in the UK on February 17, 2012.

* sorry Miss Piggy

Your Comments

Sooo...
Are they intentionally riffing on the Toy Story 3 poster here as they did with the Green Lantern, or are they just generally ripping it off? More
