First Look At The Hobbit Dwarves
Say 'ello to our little friends

07 July 2011  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen  |  Source: Facebook

First Look At The Hobbit Dwarves

Aaron Sorkin may have ditched Facebook but Peter Jackson definitely hasn't. The most recent status update from Middle-earth brings us our first glimpse of The Hobbit's dwarves - well, three of them at any rate - all kitted out for their unexpected journey.

While we wait for Peter Jackson's next hobbi-blogisode from the movie's Wellington set and the production's official bow at Comic-Con next month, this exciting taster of the dwarfish costume design should keep us tided over nicely.

From left to right, the trio are Nori (ex-Orc Jed Brophy), Ori (Adam Brown) and Dori (Mark Hadlow). With Richard Armitage promising a deep delve into the world of the dwarves, expect a whole lot more from the 13 mini-men. Check out the current issue of Empire for the first on-set Hobbit coverage in the meantime.

RE: Looking good
L: keaneye You do know that Gloin is Gimli's father right?  They should look alike.  eah, I think I might have heard that somewhere... Fili and Kili pics are out now. They look a bit Elvish, so it's a different look for them. Maybe because they're the youngest of the Dwarves. Wonder how Thorin will look. Anyway, nice short beard on Aidan. I will not have to become a beard fetishist after all. I am a VERY happy girl. More

You do know that Gloin is Gimli's father right?  They should look alike.  As for the others, I like the individual looks.  They can't all look the same.  The plastic look is hardly surprise since this picture is pretty much a photoshoot and is not serving the context of the film.  The images are just for showing their look.  Film isn't even out this year, so I'm sure they have time to add any touch ups. RE: Looking good
Yeh if they were put next to some mountains it would look better Im a little disapointed! The dwarfs (although not completely visible) looked awesome in the pic with Martin. I hope its just the background. The fact they look like Warhammer doesnt help either. More

RE: Looking good
They've clearly had some touching up in photoshop (which probably has little to do with Jackson) but I suspect they'll look much better once we see the footage. More

RE: Looking good
Oin and Gloin are up on Facebook now - they look a lot more like Gimli than these rather high-fashion gents... L: fish that roared Maybe I have a dwarf fetish after all. t seems depressingly inevitable that I will develop one over the next two years - you can't cast Richard Armitage and Aidan Turner as dwarfs and expect me to remain immune. I don't even *like* beards usually. Sigh. Hope some more pics start coming out soon. It's a long wait til 2012. More

RE: Plasticine?
The wierdnes seems to me a way to distinquish them from one another. 13 different Gimlis would probably make my head ace. They are now fresh out the wardrobe now. The plasticness will wear off. :) More

RE: Lighting?
L: roogieman Not sure if it's the way they've been lit/retouched, but they look well weird. Great, but weird. sp; Agreed they look like plastic More
