New Hobbit Images Online
More Bilbo and Gandalf images

You've already seen the Hobbit cover of the latest issue of Empire, but here's a sneak peek at two of the images inside the magazine, showing Bilbo and Gandalf in all their Martin Freeman-y, Sir Ian McKellen-y glory. And inside the magazine is a lengthy and exclusive report from the film's New Zealand set, which our Ian Nathan visited recently. The good news? Peter Jackson is relaxed, happy and hitting his stride.

“I’m exactly the same filmmaker as I was ten years ago,” says Jackson. “I’m trying to nail the same thing that I did before. I’m just telling the story.” The only difference is that this time he has a bunch of snarky dwarves to corral. "“They don’t know what to make of Gandalf, they think Bilbo is a wuss, and Elrond a prissy headmaster type,” laughs Jackson.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will hit screens on December 14, 2012.

The new Empire is out on Thursday 30 June. If you can't get to a shop, fear not, you can order your Hobbit issue online now.

RE: New Hobbit Images Online
Was glad when they cast Martin Freeman. Still glad as I see these teaser images. Worried for a bit that they might turn Bilbo into yet another Teeny Bopper Cutey, so that bitget buried in t of eye candy. Might sound weird... but huzzah for wrinkles! More

L: betamax Love it. The images do the job they are there for, although another one with a closer look at the Dwarves would have been appreciated maybe? ote] Yes please! I really want to get a closer look at the Dwarves, see how they're going to turn out. More

RE: Bilbo Gamgee?
What insane Photoshop effect have they applied to Martin Freeman, he looks really weird. On a more positive note, I am utterly psyched for this.  I never, ever bother following the whole 'new stills' thing in regard to an upcoming film, but I am lapping up every one of these.  Fond memories of the build up to LOTR... L: jokerpoker123 bland boring images, sorry to say but they just dont look right. land and boring how?  It's not supposed to have strobe lights or disco balls - it's The Hobbit.  I think the images look great, exactly how I imagined it when reading the book. More

But not to someone who has been waiting to see this film made a reality since before Fellowship was released, the epic sweeping landscapes and monsters will come in time, give 'em a chance. This perfectly captures the Hobbit hole/unexpected party so far. Oh and frankly I hope he makes four hour + extended editions. These films are an exc More
