Cars 2 Drives To A Win At US Box Office
Bad Teacher arrives second

Cars 2 Drives To A Win At US Box Office

The reviews may not have been kind, but the negative word on Pixar’s latest, Cars 2, couldn’t stop the movie racing ahead at the US box office. Mater and co opened to $68 million this weekend, according to studio estimates.

Cameron Diaz’ Bad Teacher, meanwhile, had to make do with $31 million and second place. But that was still enough to knock Green Lantern off its perch, with the superhero pic losing 65% for $18.3 million in its second weekend. Super 8 slipped to fourth with $12.1 million and Mr Popper’s Penguins rounded out the top five with $10.3 million.

Sixth place went to X-Men First Class, which is beginning its slide down the charts. The Hangover 2 was seventh with $5.8 million, just ahead of Bridesmaids at eighth, which made $5.3 million. In ninth, we find Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which took in $4.7 million, and Kung Fu Panda 2 was 10th with $4.1 million.

To drive yourself crazy with statistics, head on over to Box Office Mojo.

The world is sane!
You know the world is sane when a pixar movie beats a terrible rom-com and a high profile super hero flick to the top spot. More
