Fast & Furious 6 Swipes A Release Date

"There's no stoppin' what can't be stopped; no killin' what can't be killed," said Calvin Lockhart from beneath a rasta frightwig in Predator 2. He was talking about invisible alien hunter sportsmen, but he could just as easily have been extolling the Fast & Furious franchise, part 6 of which has just had its official release date announced on Vin Diesel's facepage.

The full announcement, written in the occasionally hilarious touchy-feely style Vin reserves for his social networking, runs thusly:

"For all of you that supported Fast Five in a way no one could have predicted, seeing it multiple times to record breaking box office... To you, who stayed through the credits, and from the moment you left the theater wanted to know, when Six was coming out... I have a date... Memorial Day 2013!!! You, officially, are the first to know."

That's Monday May 27th to those of us outside the United States, giving the project a decent development period, during at least part of which it looks as if Diesel will be off making Riddick 3.

"This gives us more pre-production time than we had on Fast Five," says Vin. "I am happy and excited."

He's calling it Sexy Six at the moment. We're assuming that's a working title...
