Pixar Dates A Mystery New Film
And refuses to say what it is...

Pixar Dates A Mystery New Film

Those sneaky pete types at Pixar are known for being devilishly secretive when it comes to their films in development, but it appears they’ve gone to the extreme this time, announcing a US release date for a new movie – November 27, 2013 – but refusing to offer up any details about what it might be.

The studio has Cars 2 arriving next, followed by fairytale saga Brave in 2012 and then prequel outing Monsters University in 2013. But if it holds true, this new date marks the first time that the company will be releasing two movies in a single calendar year. Which had been the plan with Brave and Monsters University, before the latter movie got shoved back.

Naturally, the speculation has started. Newt is out of the running since it was cancelled once the team learned of the similar Rio in development. But the one piece of information that does seem to have leaked out about the mystery new movie is that it’ll be an original project and not a sequel, which we’re sure will come as good news to those worried that Pixar were turning to bad habits, mining their hits for an endless series of repeat performances (even though they proved with Toy Story 3 that they can make them work wonderfully).

So have your guessing hats at the ready and let us know what you think the Emeryville gang might be up to…

Pixar Marvel Mash-up
It's got to be!! I read when Disney were in the process of buying up Marvel that they got the best of the best animators from both companies together to talk projects. Rumour has it that the meeting had be stopped early because people were getting too excited. My money is on a Pixar/Marvel co-production. Hence the secrecy. More

Studio Ghibli-esque?
Here's a curveball. Given the respect Pete Docter has for Miyazaki and how other Pixarians describe him as an influence, could this be a 2D animated manga? More

Dodgy Grape Vine...
My dog used to regularly sniff the ass of John Lasseter's dog and managed to glean some info from him about what he's been working on, and he says the new Pixar film is an adaptation of Blade Runner set in the world of wasps and hover flies. You heard it here first :/ More

I'm really surprised that 'The Incredibles' never produced any offspring. Considering the subject matter, surely a few sequels coiuld have easily been produced? Instead, we get a follow up to 'Cars' which is one of their only real failures (if you can call it that) and made the vast bulk of it's money through merchandising, and not bums on seats. And judging by the reaction so far, it looks as if this one wil not fare much better either! A new film would be the more suitable option..... maybe a More

Pixar is so diverse and rich in ideas there's really no point guessing what their original projects might be. Just a shame that Newt was cancelled, I'm sure it would have been better than Rio turned out. More
