New Super 8 Poster Online

J.J. Abrams' coming-of-age sci-fi Super 8 is a loving throwback to the golden age of Amblin, so who better to homage in this wonderful new promo than the man who gave Amblin's films their finest posters? Step forward Drew Struzan, artist behind E.T. and Gremlins. The poster comes courtesy of Cine 1.

But is it a homage or has the man himself secretly lent Abrams his services? Frankly, we're not too sure but we'll put our best people on finding out patrol.

The promo showcases some, but not all, of Super 8's young cast members. Needless to say, there's not a glimmer of the mysterious creature/alien/bastard monster thing we've heard rumbling around the fictional town of Lillian, Idaho in the trailers.


Super 8's super eight includes Elle Fanning, Joel Courtney, Zach Mills and Gabriel Basso. They're coming to a cinema near you on August 5.

Very close, but no cigar..
Have had being an artist for different movie properties, i know Drew Struzan's work well. This unfortunately isn't one of his pieces. The physical balance and proportion of the anatomy is a very fine hair off. The cool/warm balance is off as well.. but I must say...it is quite fine! Also..John Alvin was a marvelous artist..may he rest in peace. More

Poor imitation
This is nothing like the quality of Drew's work who retired since the industry is full of jackasses who didn't want "art" on their posters. Also John Alvin is a totally different artist Empire, get a grip. More

poster!!! My god!!! Someone's actually painted it and everything... These things are needed back in film. The obsession with Photoshop has killed this kind of poster and I for one, want them back. By that I mean horrible photographic mash ups, not digital painting which I have no issue with. More

It looks a bit fake if you ask me, I can't work out if I like it though, I don't think it suits the film at all. I was hoping Abrams was going to keep a dark and mysterious theme giving the build up for the film. More
