New Torchwood Trailer Arrives
The other Captain Jack is back...

24 May 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Starz

Up until now, the promos for the new series of sci-fi drama Torchwood have been limited to voice-overs across basic imagery. But now comes the full new trailer courtesy of American cable network Starz, and it’s loaded with actors, action and one or two choice lines.

With the US company stepping in to co-produce the new series, the setting has naturally been switched across the Atlantic, though from the looks of this, we’ll still get to see the odd nod to the home country. And though the show’s creator Russell T Davies is still in charge, he’s got a whole new, much more expensive toy box to play with, so we’re treated to exploding helicopters, exploding buildings and the sort of cast he and his team could only dream about before.

This time around, John Barrowman’s Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles’ Gwen Cooper (along with hubbie Rhys, played by Kai Owen) are joined by the likes of Bill Pullman, Mekhi Phifer, Lauren Ambrose and former Dollhouse actress Dichen Lachman.

Plot-wise, it’s a typically grandiose tale of the world facing the fact that everyone has stopped dying, which naturally leads to a lot of head scratching about the mysterious force behind it. As things get more dangerous, CIA agent Rex Matheson (Phifer), one of those who failed to die after a nasty traffic accident, realises he’ll need to track down the remaining members of Torchwood to sort out what’s really happening.

Take a look at the trailer below.

Torchwood: Miracle Day airs in the US on July 8, and while there’s no announced date for the UK yet, we’d expect it to arrive over here shortly afterwards.

Brilliant line. And one we've all said or wanted to say at one point or another. More

Best. Payoff. Line. Ever...but probably not funny to Americans. More

Wow
These 'not available in your country' things will never cease winding me up. In this case though it is particularly annoying, if it wasn't for our country they wouldn't even have the show! American TV networks really grind my gears. Hoping this is good though. Torchwood was one of those shows that was incredibly flawed, yet showed enough potential and moments of greatness to warrant being given more screentime. Love Eve Myles too. More
