Exclusive: Hanna Clip
Blanchett vs Bana... fight!

28 April 2011  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

Today's new Hanna clip is brought to you by the word 'guns' and the number '2'. It's a heady combination, as this frankly awesome snippet from Joe Wright's new action movie should amply demonstrate.

The two armed and dangerous Aussies are, of course, Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett. Bana looks to have a clear edge in both those categories. Judging by the impressive killshot we see here and the whole hiding-behind-the-sofa thing from Blanchett's corrupt Agency wonk, there's only likely to be one winner.

Hanna sees Bana's ex-assassin Erik Heller giving up the hitman game to train his daughter Hanna Heller in the ways of the assassin (Saoirse Ronan) - at least he does until Marissa Wiegler (Blanchett) turns up and kidnaps her. Big mistake. By the looks of things, he's suddenly got a lot less retired.

This looks like one to get excited about: another enhancement to Joe Wright's intriguing and diverse résumé. Throw in a Chemical Brothers score, the greatest array of European locations in an action movie since Bourne and one heck of a cast - look out too for Olivia Williams, Tom Hollander and Jason Flemyng - and it could just be unmissable.

Hanna is out on May 6.
