Welcome To Fright Night
First images from horror remake online

After the vampy famine, the bloodsucking flood. For months now, we've been waiting for a sneak peek at Craig Gillespie's Fright Night, the remake of the classic '80s horror-comedy, and now here come six images, all at once.

Three of the shots debuted online yesterday, but today we can bring you three exclusive brand-new stills from the film, which relocates the action from a small American town to Las Vegas.

The shots introduce the main characters: Anton Yelchin as Charley Brewster, a teenage boy who begins to suspect that his new next-door neighbour is a vampire; Colin Farrell as Jerry Dandridge, said fanged fiend; Brit actress Imogen Poots as Amy, Charley's girlfriend who becomes the object of Jerry's toothy affections; and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as 'Evil' Ed, Charley's best friend.

Only David Tennant, who plays Las Vegas stage magician and potential vampire killer, Peter Vincent, is missing from the big reveal. For your world-exclusive first look at him, you'll have to pick up the next issue of Empire, on sale April 28 (subscribe to Empire today so you don't miss out!).

First impressions? This seems to be a very different take on the magnificent Tom Holland original, which starred Roddy McDowall, Chris Sarandon, and William Ragsdale. After all, that movie never had a scene where 'Evil' Ed winds up in a swimming pool, or where Jerry bares his fangs at Charley while outside. But, particularly with the shot of Charley holding up a crucifix, there seems to be a degree of faithfulness here. And, as all Fright Night fans know, you have to have faith.

There's also a sleazier tone to these shots that indicate that this film might be playing up the sexual subtext of the 1985 flick. With Farrell as Dandridge (and he looks like a great fit for the role), that's almost to be expected.

Do you agree? What's your take on the first six images from this latest horror remake?

Fright Night is out on September 2.

Bored with horror re-makes!
The cast looks good apart from Evil Ed (who can't be replaced - but WTF?) When is Hollywood going to get the message - we want original horror, not all this re-made crap of brilliant horror movies. Or at least take movies that weren't very good in the first place. I'm waiting for Scream 4 & something original! More

At least you are not giving them Pasty Irish milk-bottle Skin
It almost makes them more threating to see the more human side to them. And by " them "I mean Nosferatu or pural " Nosferati:-) " Good cast and the lighting seems to give the desired effected along with the Antique silver embossed Colt ( Six Shooter) more than likely loaded with silver rounds brandishing a Armour plating piercing Crucifix forged in an electrolyte bath containing Garlic Resin ? Or am I just making up w More

why?
Why on earth is there this need to re-hash and, in most cases, butcher brilliant movies? Fright Night is an excellent movie, funny, cheesey, clever, and I can't see this being anywhere near as good. Oh, and who on earth suggested McLovin for Evil? Bad idea! More

RE: Peter vincent
Yes his name is a mishmash of them. Original was great little gem. Fun how they had fabricated clips of Hammer-like movies the horror tv host had starred in. More
