Moss and McDowell Head To Silent Hill
Villainy confirmed for Revelation

07 April 2011  |  Written by Owen Williams  |  Source: Shock Till You Drop

We already know that Adelaide Clemens is starring as heroine Heather Mason, and now Silent Hill: Revelation looks to have its principal villains in the forms of Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell.

Moss will be playing Claudia Wolf, who in the film's source game Silent Hill 3 is the priestess of the reality-shifting Silent Hill cult, planning to midwife an evil god using Heather as the mother. McDowell's role is Leonard Wolf, Claudia's father, who in the game doesn't exactly approve of his daughter, but is also, to put it mildly, less-than-helpful to Heather and her cause...

Producer Samuel Hadida says, "Carrie has displayed her enormous talent across all genres from The Matrix to Memento, and we are delighted for her to join the world of Silent Hill." Director Michael J Bassett (Solomon Kane) meanwhile, sings McDowell's praises: "He has an amazing ability to bring new and unexpected dimensions to his characters and I know he will bring something unique and disturbing..."

From all we've seen and heard so far, it seems clear that Bassett is keen to continue the nightmarishly atmospheric vision that Christophe Gans brought to the first Silent Hill movie. Sean Bean, Radha Mitchell and Deborah Kara Unger are all returning (although likely in small roles: according to Bassett's blog, Bean and Unger finished filming their scenes very early on), and shooting is currently underway in Toronto.
