New Pirates Of The Caribbean Featurette
Rated arrghh

05 April 2011  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

It's strange to think that the inspiration for the multi-gajillion-dollar franchise that is Pirates was a once-creaky ride tucked away in a corner of Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Perhaps if the queues had been a little longer the day Jerry Bruckheimer visited, we'd now be eagerly awaiting the next instalment of Swiss Family Treehouse 3D or Big Thunder Mountain 4: Mountains Will Thunder.

Forgive the nostalgia trip but this new featurette for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has made us come over all wobbly. There's even a cameo from Walt himself to remind us where it all started. But where will it end? Well, judging by the treasure chest of trailers, posters and character shots we've seen so far, with plenty of swashbuckling, a spot of yo-ho-ho'ing and several barrels of rum. These will be firmly in the possession of Cap'n Jack himself (Johnny Depp) and dad Captain Teague (Keith Richards).

Somewhere in the salty carry-on Geoffrey Rush - star of this sizzle reel - will be hamming it up merrily as Captain Barbossa, while Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane will be flirting with - and trying to cutlass the heck out of - Cap'n Jack.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
will washing onto a shore near you on May 18, all in buccaneer-friendly 3D.
