Barrymore Explains How To Be Single
Drew's next directing job...

16 March 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

After exploring the world of roller derby with Whip It, her first film as a director, Drew Barrymore is entering a area where there’s even more chance of injury – or at the very least, a broken heart: romance. She’s locking in to make How to Be Single, base on Liz Tuccillo’s novel.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it’s a Valentine’s Day-style multi-strand story that will chronicle the love lives, breakups, problems and issues of a group of New Yorkers as they ebb and flow across 10 years.

Tuccillo’s book hit shelves in 2008 and now Barrymore has recruited the team who adapted He’s Just Not That Into You, Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn to turn it into a screenplay. It’s no really a shocker that she’d hired those two – the new movie will be for New Line, which produced Not That Into You) alongside Barrymore and regular producing partner Nancy Juvonen.

There’s no word on casting or when she’ll start shooting, but the script is apparently finished…

Just a thought
Just a thought Barrymore. When recruiting "the team who adapted He’s Just Not That Into You, Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn", you might like to encourage them to downplay the rampant, reductive misogynism that blighted their piece of shit movie. More
