|Bradley Cooper: There'll Be No A-Team 2|
'There just wasn't enough revenue...'
10 March 2011 | Written by Ali Plumb | Source: Exclusive
The A-Team’s potential for a sequel was always in the balance – and now, from Face’s very own mouth, it seems there definitely won’t be a follow-up.
In town to talk about his latest movie, Limitless, the worryingly handsome actor was in the Empire office today for a webchat, where one of you lovely people asked this question:
Holmesy says: “Any news on the A-Team 2? Will there be one? I thought it was great and my friends felt the same.”
Bradley’s response: “I loved it too. But unfortunately, outside of you, a few of your friends and myself, there just wasn't enough revenue to supply a second instalment of that franchise.”
This is a great shame in our opinion, as though The A-Team wasn’t a perfect movie, it was a big bag of fun.
If you look at the numbers, the US haul clocked in at $77 million, and the rest of the world, $100 million. Its budget was $110, so there’s $67 million there to pay for all the marketing (and there was a lot).
This just wasn’t enough for a mid-summer blockbuster – and maybe releasing it during the World Cup opening weekend wasn’t a great idea in hindsight.
But what about the other members of the team? Speaking to Liam Neeson back in February, Den Of Geek reported that Hannibal was still game for another film.
"Well, there's nothing planned at the minute, but the studios certainly aren't saying no. I personally would love to get on the horse again, you know? With Bradley and Sharlto and Rampage - we all would. But with the studios and the studio system it's a question of dollars and cents."
Hmm. That combined with Bradley’s quote here means that things aren’t looking great, plan-coming-together-wise. Empire’s suggestion? A TV spin-off. You know, for the irony.
Still, what do you guys make of the news? Are you not that bothered, or genuinely distraught? Or, as is more likely, somewhere in between? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

|Was a great movie; well acted, decent script (considering it was an action adventure shoot-em-up, it was actually a *great* script for that genre) with snappy dialogue and mostly good pacing (a few spots lagged).
If nothing else, the line "No, they're trying to fly that tank" is an absolute instant classic (reminds me of "We sank a truck" from Operation Petticoat)!
Of course, it was a niche movie, and not one the younger generation would be particularly familiar with, More|

|My whole family(and I have a massive family!) are pissed because this movie franchise could only get better and better. All the first movie did, was tell you how they ended up on the run. The next movie would be about how they'd help people. I can't believe they don't want to do more of these movies! More|

|They have the Jazz, so let them use it!!!|
|The A-Team movie seems to have suffered from two problems only: firstly, being released during the World Cup Soccer and secondly, bad movie reviews! One the first problem, being from South Africa where the World Cup was hosted, I apologize to the guys for this! On the second problem, in my opinion, movie reviewers cannot, and should not, always be trusted to the letter of their writing, and you shouldn’t put all your faith in their reviews only! It would be a shame not to have seen this m More|

|Great Cast, Average script, Bad Director|
|I pity the exec who decided to scrap John Singleton from the film and offer it to the guy who give the world smoking ace's. The Cast was inspired but not given enough scope or a script that allowed them to show the well rounded characters that we got from the TV series and the tepid story was lack luster to say the least. It would have been a GREAT film if given to the right director instead of a action junky with a camera who has no idea of how to string a coherent and interesting story togethe More|

|I so want a sequel to the A-Team movie... If they can make crap like a night at the museum 2 & bloody Fockers movies... which "were" crap then why can't they get the funding to make another A-Team? I love Liam Neeson & Bradley Cooper & they were just fantastic in the movie, in fact they all played their characters amazingly & I would love to see them back again for a sequel... I'm gonna keep praying & hoping for a second A-Team movie! ;) More|

|As 'Rampage' would say 'That's bullshit'. Without being specific I am a specops veteran who loves to watch The A Team. I'm watching it again for what is probably about the tenth time. I also have my Master Degree in Consumer Psychology and it the studio made the bone headed decision to open the movie during the World Cup then that is the poor decision of the studio. I personally would have fit it in, but there are a lot of cry babies in today's society. Anyway, the studio needs to make a se More|

| RE: Producers only got themselves to blame|
| Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the film, I felt like it covered i] possible scenario that the film could have taken and actually thought that if they did a sequel it would be much of the same thing.
Glad to finally have a decent film and it be kept at film.

| RE: sick|
| Gotta say I'm gutted. The whole movie set up the "crime they didn't commit" bit and the next movie could have been a balls to the wall "soldiers of fortune" movie. I've been excited about an A-team movie since the original cast were still young/alive enough to star in it. I enjoyed the first one but it could have been improved. shame there'll be no second crack of the whip to make the improvements... or shoehorn in a cameo for Mr T for that matter.
off to rewatch my box sets More|

| RE: Noooooo|
| Too bad - for all it's flaws, A-Team was very enjoyable entertainment, despite a plot that made no sense whatsoever. Casting and characterisation were pretty much spot on, although Jessica Biel flounced around like a model rather than convincing in any way as an army officer. Also, the setup for the final setpiece plan was terrifically inventive (although the sequence itself featured unacceptably shoddy CGI).
Is it fair to say that the totally unexpected success of The Expendables had an i More|
