Josh Brolin Adapting Pitz And Joe
He'll direct a film of the play

Having cut his directorial teeth with short film X (which starred his daughter, Eden), Josh Brolin is planning to move up to his first feature film, picking an adaptation of Dominique Cieri’s play Pitz and Joe as his focus.

Pitz chronicles the misfortunes of a young man who suffers brain damage during an accident, and whose injury has led him to sink into deep, suicidal depression. His sister tries to make him believe that he shouldn’t give up.

Cieri based the 1979 play on her real life experience: her older brother broke his neck in a serious accident. Brolin will star and produce the film as well as calling the shots.

Warner Bros. is putting up the money to make it (and possibly to apologise to Brolin for convincing him that Jonah Hex would turn out okay), while Monsters vs. Aliens co-writer Maya Forbes is hard at work on the adaptation.

While Variety got the whole story up, both Pajiba and The Playlist deserve a hat tip for digging up the details first.
