A First Look At Sherlock Holmes 2
Noomi Rapace joins the action...

Thanks to Stephen Fry’s prodigious tweets on the matter, we know that Guy Ritchie and his cast and crew on the Sherlock Holmes sequel have been working hard making the film. Now the first image has arrived, featuring Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and Watson (Jude Law) in action once more, this time joined by Sim, as played by franchise newcomer Noomi Rapace.

There’s not an awful lot more to report, since the picture is basically the three on the run from an explosion, with Holmes hair flying wildly. Rapace’s costume is intriguing though – her character was at one point rumoured to be some sort of French gypsy, though there’s no word yet on whether she’s actually playing that. The outfit itself looks more like she’s part of – or has borrowed the uniform from – the military.

And as for the plot, we do know that Holmes and Watson will be going up against Moriarty, with Mad Men’s Jared Harris playing the cunning professor. Fry is Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s older brother, a man who has his own dark secrets but also the piercing intelligence that seems to run in their family.

Sherlock Holmes 2 (or whatever it ends up called or subtitled) is scheduled to arrive on December 16 next year. A tip of the hat to Hitfix for the pic.

RE: A First Look At Sherlock Holmes 2
L: Letattz stephen fry seems a little old to be playing that role (only 7 years older than sherlock), but since he is generally ace in all other areas of life, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.... e is "ace", he's also only eight years older than Robert Downey Jr (a little less to be more precise.).
