Park Chan-Wook Directing Stoker?
Eyeing English-language debut

It was a big enough surprise to learn that Prison Break's Wentworth Miller had written the script, but now comes the news that Park Chan-Wook is in talks to direct Stoker.

Stoker is the story of a young woman dealing with the death of her father and the coincident return of her mysterious estranged uncle. It's got nothing to do with Bram, as far as anyone's aware. Unless the returning uncle turns out to be Dracula.

The film has been coming together at Fox Searchlight since the summer, and has Carey Mulligan and Jodie Foster reportedly already attached to star. Something of a prestige project then (with all eyes on Black Swan), and a high-profile English-language debut for the director of the Vengeance Trilogy and Thirst. Sketchy plot-details aside, nobody's quite clear on the tone, with some sources claiming horror, and others a psychological thriller. With Park in the mix though, we're going to go right out on a limb and suggest "dark".

Ridley and Tony's Scott Free production company is calling the shots behind the scenes, and if Park signs, everyone's attention will next turn to casting the plum role of the uncle. Watch this space for updates, and give us your suggestions below.
