True Grit International Poster Online
The Coens get moody, bullet-riddled

The True Grit trailer was cool, the first True Grit poster was cool - and sure enough, the new True Grit international poster is also gosh-darn cool. With Jeff Bridges transforming himself into the living embodiment of the word "grizzled", Matt Damon looking like he wants to hurt us* and Josh Brolin about 10 seconds from pulling the trigger of that shotgun, it's a moody effort that has our excitement levels at near breaking point.

The storyline, for those of you who aren't up on your John Wayne originals, sees a tough old US marshal (Bridges) help a young woman (newcomer Hailee Steinfeld) to track down her father's murderer. They're helped by a Texas ranger (Damon) and on the trail of bad 'un Tom Chaney (Brolin).

True Grit comes out in the UK on January 14, which is - by our count - not a mite too soon.

Updated: And here are the individual character banners released in the US at the same time as this international effort. If you want a closer look at the characters, get it with an examination of this quartet. Click on the images below for larger versions on IMDB.

*In fairness, that may be the result of that horrendous slicked hair and moustache rather than any actual intent on his part. Good to know that Damon continues the fine tradition of good actors donning bad hair in Coen movies.
