Darren Aronofsky Pondering Wolverine 2?
Hugh Jackman likes the idea...

31 August 2010  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Here’s one we didn’t see coming: Darren Aronofsky is seriously considering the idea of signing on to direct Wolverine 2.

It certainly doesn’t sound like the sort of film Aronofsky would go anywhere near, but given his good relationship with Logan himself, Hugh Jackman, it’s no surprise that the actor has been reaching out to his old friend.

Though it still seems to be David Slade’s job to lose, the competition had apparently been narrowing down to Slade and Red’s Robert Schwentke. But according to Deadline, Schwentke took himself out of the running before a scheduled meeting with Jackman this weekend.

Fox apparently prefers the idea of Slade directing given his recent experience making Twilight: Eclipse. And the studio might be afraid of the idea that the team behind The Fountain – which in our opinion was great, but still lost money – would be handed a massive franchise entry. And we'd still have to doubt that Aronofsky would ever sit in the big chair.

Talking of Fox movies still looking for a director, Deadline is also hearing that the job of making Deadpool might be up in the air again as Robert Rodriguez is having some trouble figuring out his schedule between his promotional tour on Machete and starting work on Spy Kids 4. If Ryan Reynolds’ work on Safe House means Deadpool were shoved back, that would mean Rodriguez could still do the job.

Finally, the Heat Vision blog carries word that Warner Bros. has now locked down Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebsman to shoot its Clash of the Titans sequel. Hope he can make the 3D look better this time. Oh, and make a decent movie.

RE: R
I'm pretty sure I won't read a more surprising article all week than Aronosfsky being interested in this after the tripe that was Wolverine & X-Men 3. I really like Aronosfsky (except for the absolutely pile of garbage that was "The Fountain")... I'd be interested to see what he does with this. More
