A Tiny Bit Of Cloverfield Sequel News
'It's still a priority' for Reeves

09 August 2010  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: MTV

Here a little tidbit of news for all you Cloverfield fans out there. You may have been worried by the failure of JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves to get stuck into a sequel immediately, but fear not: Reeves assured MTV recently that it will happen.

"It really isn't the moment for [the sequel] to go any further than it has, but it continues to be a priority for both of us," Reeves told the channel. "J.J. is very immersed in putting together 'Super 8.' He's in pre-production and really, really passionately getting that together. And I'm passionately finishing 'Let Me In.'"

He also confirmed that there is no link whatsoever between the big gross monster movie and JJ's similarly secretive upcoming movie Super 8 - but that he "knows what JJ's doing and it's amazing."

Promising stuff - but what do you want to see from a Cloverfield sequel? We're assuming you want one at all, but surely the chance to see a bunch of hipsters get trodden on / eaten / exploded by monsters is a good thing.

RE:
I loved Cloverfield, and Abrams is a bit of a genius i reckon. If he's involved in the sequel then i'm there! More

didn't empire, in their original review of cloverfield, say they would knock off a few stars from the original '*****' if Abrams ever made a sequel? More

Dubious...
I have faith in Abrams, but Cloverfield is one of those films that doesn't need a sequel. The big "reveal" is gone too. They can do an origin story, an aftermath story, or the same story from a different perspective. Good luck to them. More

Sweet.
Hopefullly they pull a Terminator or a Godfather, and the sequel is better. How they would do that, I'm not sure, but nobody was expecting James Cameron to pull T2 out of his pocket, were they? But he did. Hopefully they'll do the same here. And I couldn't be more excited for Super 8. More

If they do a sequel, which I'm not furious about but think it works fine
Put in a different monster, if they pull it off.....I'll be damned More

Same meat, different gravy
Didn't I read somewhere (probably on here) that the sequel was basically the same film, but shot from someone else's camera and therefore a new and different perspective? More

A different beast ...
... I'd like it to get all Harryhausen and have another monster emerge. Then they could scrap and tear everything apart, like the videogame Rampage. I would keep the handheld cameras, sort of, in that it would be video footage from soldiers' helmet cams. More

It would make it just another monster movie in many people's eyes, but straight after seeing the movie, I really wanted to see a conventionally shot version. The handheld's have always annoyed me; the characters would have dropped them the minute anything happened. More
