Paranormal Activity 2 Teaser Online
The hand that shocks the cradle?

30 June 2010  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

submit to reddit

The teaser trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 is online, courtesy of Paramount, offering a first glimpse at the follow-up to last year's viral horror sensation.

[Warning: contains spoilers] The trailer picks up where Paranormal Activity left off, with a less-than-all-there Katie Featherstone appearing in front of the camera and us disappearing behind our cinema seats.

Not too much is known about the sequel - is that woman Katie? Who's baby is it? What happens to the dog? And is that an IKEA kitchen? - but the trailer does contain one or clues. Pay close attention to the mirror at the 1:12 (3:53:54 on screen) mark as things turn a little Poltergeist...

If the sequel is to get close to matching the $193m success of the original, it'll have to do so without Orin Peli behind the camera(s). Tod Williams directs from a script by Michael R. Perry.

Paranormal Activity 2 is out on October 22. Prepare those fingernails for biting.

RE: Paranormal Activity 2 Teaser Online
L: paul.mccluskey I watched the first film in the dark last night, and it near scared me to death! Will probably go see this... if I'm brave enough! I hope nothing happens to the baby in the film. The filmmakers would be crossing a line if they did something like that. ol What line is that? I think Lars Von Trier pretty much wiped his ass with the "Don't Kill Babies" line when he made Antichrist. Even if something does happen to the baby...it's not real so what's the problem? More

L: SUPER_movie_FREAK For anybody having trouble finding the writing on the carpet. It is there and it's in the reflection of the mirror. Go to the official website via the link and watch the trailer once, ONLY ONCE. After its finished you will be able to replay it and it will be paused on the bedroom scene. I doubt it'll scare me as much as the first one did, but I'm curious to see where they go with the film. Personally I wish they'd release a DVD of the first film with proper special features and everything on it. More

L: johnnyrox The reason some people hate these films is because they (the viewers) don't have imaginations. Films like this are designed to mess with your mind and that works for people who have a good imagination. People who don't have one understandably tend to get more out of films which don't leave anything to the imagination. y god do you realise how much of a prick you sound? ever thought that maybe the reason some people hated this film was because they just thought it was shit? For people still not getting the whole what happens in the mirror, thing? The chair rocks just before the dog looks round? And in the last scene "girl standing in the door". There's no writing on the carpet???? but the baby is still standing in the crib, but only in the mirror??? Spoooooooky? RE: Worst film of last year
The film I saw had a different ending to the one featured in the trailer- does anyone know how they will fit in together, or are we taking it as the one in this trailer was the actual ending (as in descent and descent 2). Have to say I though it was a pretty poor trailer, all that "in 2009 you demanded it" rubbish and the shots of cinema audience make it look like a fairground attraction. I went back and saw the 3.53.53 moment and it sort of smells of another very recent film. It will be int More

I enjoyed the original and this looks pretty damn creepy. I doubt that it will hit the heights of the first one in terms of effectiveness or box office but hopefully it won't pull a 'book of shadows'. More

End of trailer
I personally liked the first movie. Did anyone notice at the end of the trailer there are words on the carpet in the mirror? Can anyone make out what they say? If you view it from the official site you get a better look at it. Its not going to be the movie of the decade (or anything even close) but will be interesting to see how it develops. More

It beat GI Joe? surely nothing can top that as the worst film of last year? I didn't mind the first one but agree with alsybroth about the daytime scenes. Doubt I'll bother with the second one but somehow i think my other half will be dragging me along. Oh and my Mum watched the first one and totally believed that it was real, she got quite freaked out bless her until I told her it was just a film. So they showed the only good bit from the last film in the teaser: smart move. It's a shame the rest of the film was so mind numbingly boring and ignored one of the basic rules of horror filmmaking: a real threat. Paranormal Activity somehow beat GI Joe and Transformers 2 as my worst film of 2009. More

Its a maybe...
The first was OK, but only during the night shots where the macabre shots happen at all angles. During the daytime parts, it was dull as watching paint dry. I spotted in the trailer at the 3:53:54 mark, when the woman is standing there, the baby isn't in the cradle but IS in the cradle in the mirror's reflection. Creepy. More
