First Look At Puss In Boots' Spin-Off
Including Salma Hayek’s Kitty…

20 June 2010  |  Written by James White  |  Source: DreamWorks

To all those who thought we might use a different word for cat in the headline above, shame on you. Now, on with the story… While the big news this weekend has been about Pixar’s latest success, DreamWorks shoved the first image from Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots into the world, along with more details about the story and casting.

The stand-alone Puss adventure will find the feisty feline (voiced as usual by Antonio Banderas) taking on a mission to steal the famous, golden egg-laying goose of fairy tale fame.

To complete the job, he teams up with Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis, the most popular comedian-turned-actor of the moment, given how many jobs he’s got lined up), a criminal mastermind, and the savvy Kitty, voiced by Salma Hayek.

Voice recording for this one has been underway for a few months now, with Banderas and Hayek apparently getting to share booth time occasionally so they can riff off one another. Should help with the catty chemistry, at least.

This first pic below is from the official site, which basically features just that and the rough synopsis for now.

Puss In Boots

Puss In Boots is currently scheduled for release in 3D on December 9, 2011. Thanks to Collider for the spot.
