Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 Trailer
Swoosh! Pow! Sore thumbs!

15 June 2010  |  Written by Owen Williams  |  Source: Gametrailers

The trailer for LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, has just gone online over at Gametrailers. Seriously, is there any cooler sound than a lightsaber?

Following on, logically enough, from its predecessor, The Force Unleashed 2, coming to a PS3, Xbox, Wii, PSP, DS, PC and phone near you later in the year,  sees Darth Vader's apprentice Starkiller betrayed by the asthmatic dark lord and striking back on his own. Cue jumping and swooshing and much boss fatigue.

Force Unleashed, set between Revenge of the Sith and what we're still not used to calling A New Hope, was fairly standard in terms of its gameplay (although you got to fling stormtroopers around like rag-dolls, which was cool) but was a big noise for its "canonical" status, its narrative and its glossy presentation. It was part of a multimedia blitz that included comics and novels. Expect more of the same when The Force Unleashed 2 arrives at Christmas this year.

I beg to differ...
I thought the story behind SWTFU was rocking and by far the best thing about the game even though the game was good too. Galen Marek/Master Starkiller is one of the best conflicted characters of the SW Universe and is one bad ass mofo! His storyline pissed all over the 3 prequels and i'd love to see it bought to the big screen. Me and my 6 year old son will be first in line for the new game too! More

RE: Films
How much more successful do they need to be, the three prequels made a colossal amount of money. The fight scenes were not the problem, they had that hyperslick style kids loves that has been done to death. The problem is that it had a terrible story, wooden performances and overuse of CGI.   This is just another game for the Halo generation, all style no substance.   with wher Star Wars is going, i'm just not interested anymore. Hopefully the camera's sorted out and the characters don't all walk like Gerry Anderson creations... More

PS: Good move by LucasArts to cast an actual actor for the part. The cut scene animation was clunky, but the face was unique and not just some random action dude. More

Canon is fine
It was a fine first game for the Canon of Star Wars. It nicely tied up the prequel background set-up in the novels of Timothy Zahn and the movies. Yes, it tweaked a few things retroactively, but as a hardcore Star Wars fan, I wasn't offended at all. I ám however a bit worried about how they will continue now, because Force Unleashed I had a pretty closed ending. More

ain't it just a damn shame
that Lucas is putting his time into stuff like this and when a Star Wars movie comes out now it's pointless. They should've made movies out of the Han Solo books. I loved those when I was a kid More

The trailer for the first game looked cool too.
And that game was mediocre at best, I hated following an on screen button pressing prompt, going to the same location twice in some instances. I hope they've improved the gameplay this time around, I want to use my own kick ass Jedi combinations and there's a whole fricking galaxy out there! More

If Star War Clone Wars had that type of style, action, dark tone and high quality animation then it would actually be appealing. Whilst the trailer was brilliant, surely wouldn't Darth Vader have killed his appentice himself seeing his ruthless nature in the film? More

Looks cooler than a polar bear's feet, but..
Your gonna need something akin to the offspring from a Cray Supercomputer and Deep Blue humpathon to make this look anywhere good as it needs to. I'll stick with my ZX81 thanks you very much! More

RE: Isn't that the guy from that computer game?
Yeah, Sam Witwer's a really great actor, he also had a bit part in Battlestar Galactica and Dexter. I believe he is what Empire would call a 27%-er (any film or TV show's quality improves by 27% just through his presence alone). More

Isn't that the guy from that computer game?
I was watching The Mist and I was struck by how much one of the soldiers looked like Starkiller - watching this preview reminded me of that - turns out it's the same guy - some bit-part actor called Sam Witwer - the CGI conversion is spookily accurate. In my fever dreams George Lucas has a proper word with himself, and hands over writing/directing duties to some people with actual talent to make a live action adaptation of the Force Unleashed storyline and we finally get the next-gen Star W More

Films
If the films had had fight scenes half as cool as this, they would've been much more successful!! More
