Centurion Trailer Marches In
Neil Marshall goes Roman around

The first trailer for Neil Marshall’s new action epic – the Roman soldier-powered Centurion has debuted on IGN.

The plot finds Marshall back in familiar, Dog Soldiers-style territory of men-on-a-mission-in-big-trouble: a Roman legion is ambushed by Pictish warriors and the survivors, trapped behind enemy lines must fight their way to safety and claim revenge.

It boasts a solid cast, including Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, Olga Kurylenko (sporting a nifty metal tiara and a lethal bow and arrow) and David Morrissey and, from the looks of this promo, promises plenty of Gladiator-esque fun.

Got to love an ambush that features flaming weapons rolling down a hillside! And maybe, just maybe, this’ll wipe Doomsday from our memories and get Marshall back to his earlier glory days.

Take a look at the trailer below (or watch in HD on IGN) and judge for yourself.

Doomsday was ace!!!!!!!
Gonna throw my support for Doomsday in too and say that so far, Neil Marshall has never let us down. Go on Neil, get stuck in!!! Plus Fassbender was the only truly decent thing in Inglorious Bastards... More

Eh, let's face it...
Marshall has only really produced one truly GOOD film (The Descent). The rest have all been B-to-Z-Grade fun. How could yo not love "Doomsday" in all it's insanity and John Carpenter/George Miller tribute goodness? I'll give this one a chance, simply because Marshall is about the closest thing we have (outside of David Twohy) to a modern day John Carpenter... More

glad to see I'm not the only one who thought htis looked pretty sub-standard ... Michael Fssbender is always good value but I'm really not sure about Dom West (and don't get me wrong - i LOVE the Wire) - a posh old Etonian as a grizzled Roman Centurion? hmmmmn ... and I'm sorry, but I've never rated Noel Clarke. Ever. I loved Marshall's early work but Doomsday was a stinker ... and I'm betting my money that EAGLE OF THE NINTH will knock this one right out the park. That is all. More

Really?
I thought it looked a bit...shite. People jumping off cliffs ala Butch and Sundance, Apocalypto err Sheena Queen of the Jungle. Its all been done before and doesn't look like anything new. However I will stand corrected if it turns out to be good. Oh and Doomsday? Absolute rubbish More

Olga Kurylenko is a Goddess.
Sign me up. And I too liked Doomsday. It was exactly as advertised and holds up well to multiple viewings. More

VALHALLA RISING
Trust me!!!!. It does not rival Gladiator and is not as fun as Centurion looks and as good as Eagle of the ninth is bound to be. More

What was wrong with Doomsday?
A former Lara Croft beating up Scots with a very flashy car, tell me what's wrong with that? Still, Centurion will be a blast. More

seen it
went to a test screening with my brother a few weeks ago and considering i like chick flicks i really enjoyed it. the gore factor is high (i watched most of it peeping through my fingers) and it is non stop action broken up by the occassional funny line. Michael Fassbender and Olga Kurylenko are particularly good. More

Romans in the gloamin!
Sometimes I do worry.... The people we entrust to give their opinions on movies don't seem to pay much attention. Olga's metal tiara? Olga's bow and arrow? Can't you tell the difference between a blonde and brunette? The tiara is in fact Olga's hair, streaked with woad in the Pict stylee, it's not Olga but Axelle Carolyn as the warrior Pict with the bow (check IMDB if you don't believe me!).... Watch it again Mr. White! Aside from that, the trailer speaks for itself and looks absolutely More

Drool...
Right up my street, that kind of thing. Actually can't wait. This is the year of the epic, what with that, Valhalla Rising, Eagle of the Ninth, and some other stuff as well (I'll choose to ignore clash of the titans), we might finally get a film to rival Gladiator. More
