Mr And Mrs Smith Getting A Reboot?
Mr And Mrs Jones? Really?

08 February 2010  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Vulture blog

The last time Fox attempted to harness the incredible sexy power of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-starrer Mr And Mrs Smith, it was to bottle it up and serve it weekly as a TV series. That didn’t make it past the sexy pilot, so now, according to the Vulture blog, the new idea is to reboot it. With a different couple.

Get ready then – should this thing make it from the lofty hills of Rumour Mountain to the echoing halls of development hell – for Mr And Mrs Jones. A mere five years after the first stab, and the studio is already trying again?

It won’t play as a sequel to the original, but will instead rewind for another origin story, this time focused on a pair of spies fresh out of the academy that are teamed up as a fake married couple. No other details were let loose, so we’re going to have to assume they initially hate each other before teaming up to foil some dastardly plot.

Hiring new faces mean the costs can be saved to make things go 'splodey and, we're sure the producers are hoping, launch some new stars and a fresh franchise, as with Paramount's Star Trek. Or just launch an actual franchise, since the Smiths only managed one film.

Akiva Goldsman, who helped shepherd the troubled-yet-ultimately-successful original into cinemas, is attached again. You may begin worrying… now.

RE:
L: Bluehawk Wait, what? A reboot? Of a single movie? AGAIN! God, is 5 years ago the new '60s or something? ell you see, latest research from the foremost scientologists and mentalists have determined that humans do in fact have the memory of goldfishes these days, and so unless you're older than the age of 25, your attention span won't allow you to actually REMEMBER what happened more than five minutes ago. RE: Seriously?
The unrated version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith is better than the PG-13 but it still leaves a lot to be desired from an action film. I just don't see this idea getting past the development hell stage. More

"...a fake married couple"? Sounds just like the 1996 series, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", starring Scott Bakula and Maria Bello. More

So it isn't really a reboot of Mr and Mrs Smith. Its just a film that has a similar idea, where two young, sexy, covert operatives end up living together. It REALLY isn't the same thing at all. More

LAME!
Lame, lame, lame, lame, lame! Seriously guys! Reboorting a film that is neither a franchise, nor an adaption of anything, nor cult, nor ... well, nothing! It's just a radom movie that stared two of Hollywoods most famous stars. Why rebooting it? Why bother? Seriously, why even bother? More
