|Hawkman Next For Warners?|
The latest Super Friend in development
21 December 2009 | Written by James White | Source: Pajiba
Andy Warhol famously predicted that one day, everyone will get their 15 minutes of fame. If he were alive today, he'd be very confused as to why he's in a coffin, but he'd also announce that every superhero will eventually be turned into a film, especially now that Warners has apparently set its sights on DC's Hawkman.
The team over at Pajiba have a source that points to the studio shoving a film based on the be-winged hero into development.
It's still a rumour at this point, since Warners has yet to officially announce it, but following the creation of the massive entertainment conglomeration once WB swallowed up DC, it was only a matter of time before all the comics' company's books were thrown into the script pile.
Hawkman is one of the decidedly lesser DC heroes, first created for the pages of Flash Comics in 1940 by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville who has been through the usual multiple incarnations.
He's fond of using archaic weaponry (like, say a mace) and sports artificial wings made of Nth metal that allows him to fly.
According to the report, Warners is looking for something that is part Indiana Jones (at least one version of the Hawk's alter egos was an archaeologist), part Da Vinci Code and part… Ghost?
Oh, and Stargate's Michael Shanks will be playing him. On Smallville. We bet Warners might wait and see if he, er, takes off before development of the film version continues...

|Michael Shanks for Hawkman|
|You couldn't pick a better actor for Hawkman. He can play anything that the directors/writers throw at him he is so multi-talented. Excellent idea to go for a superhero movie. Get Michael on to the big screen. More|

|Hawkman,s Michael Shanks is perfect choice|
|I just viewed Michael in SANCTUARY's "Penance", and wondered why he isn't doing more adventure stories , esp of characters with some depth!!! He has good comic timing, marvelous witty repartee' in much of his impromptu work in his roles, even in the calmer characters! And he is buff to watch, adept at action scenes as Iexpect to see in SMALLVILLE in Feb. 2010. Best of all, he is believable as a raunchy , evil soul, and plays "crazy' with finesse, as being delightfully believa More|

| RE: Hawkman Next For Warners?|
| This could be good if done well. I think Hawkman is quite an interesting character but i'm not so sure if his alter-ego is all that interesting the same way Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent, Hal Jordan etc are - as they all have fairly eventful and interesting backgrounds.
I understand that in some incarnations of Hawkman, he is the reincarnation of an Egyptian prince! I think this sort of subject matter would have to be handled very carefully so's not to make it co More|

|Hawkgirl- Shayera Hol specifically - is the hawk who deserves a film. Not least among the reasons being that unlike /some/ hawkpeople, she has real wings. moreover, she's got one helluva story. Sent by her fiance t spy on Earth to see if its dfences are sufficient to repel a gordanian attack. she falls in love with the planet naturally, and, when 5yrs down the line, her bloke shows up with an armada, she a/ is torn between old love and new, and b/ has no idea she was lied to and that her pepe pl More|

| RE: How to Properly Create a SuperHero Movie|
| the Get the /i] right. Get the /i] right. Get the lity. There are REASONS that popular characters ARE POPULAR. Sure their costumes, origins, and powers have evolved over time, but there are some core elements that people identify with the character, and t feel like the hero without them.an is not dark, his costume colors are not maroon and dirty blue, he's not a stalker, or a peeping tom, or a deadbeat dad. What the hell is wrong with you people? Batman doesn't have nipples on his suit.& More|

| Argue with me later. If they knew what they were doing I wouldn't have to write this, now would I?
ssemble a production team that has knowledge of, and respect for, the source material.
Don't put people together that have no idea about the backstory, the mythology, or the motivations of the character. *cough*”I never read the comic as a kid”*cough* is NOT the guy to hire. You need writers, directors, producers and crew that have some idea of exactly who they're writing, lighting, and cos More|
