DreamWorks Says I Saw You
Gets into the rom-com game

14 December 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Hey, hands up everyone who wants to see another ensemble rom-com? Anyone? Well, tough, 'cause you're getting I Saw You from DreamWorks whether you like it or not. Yes, hot on the heels of Love Actually, He's Just Not That Into You and the forthcoming Valentine's Day, here's another group outing.

And just like He's Just Not That Into You, this one's tenuously based on another non-fiction book, this one a comic-strip-style compilation of real and fictional missed connection ads - you know the sort: "You: girl in red coat on Bakerloo line; me: smelly man with creepy raincoat. Drinks?" Drawn by a plethora of comic-book names and edited by Julie Wertz, the book is a mixture of the heartfelt, the bizarre and the bonkers - and four interlocking love stories from it will form the basis of a new film.

A script based on the book by Andrea McCloud sparked something of a bidding war, and George Tillman Jr. (Notorious, Men Of Honor) is set to produce and direct.

Your Comments

Much as I hate to admit
I'm a sucker for a good rom-com. Or at least a 3-star rom-com. Plus, who doesn't love reading those ads in the free paper? It's one of the first things I turn to. One day...... More
