New Percy Jackson Trailer
Get the whole plot in a bite-sized chunk

04 December 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara

A new trailer has gone up for Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and it's one of those efforts that goes to such great lengths to explain what's happening that it gives away just a bit too much. That said, it also promises some good action and interesting names, so stick with us as we take a look.

Our hero is Perseus "Percy" Jackson (Logan Lerman) is an ordinary New Yorker with a penchant for getting into trouble and being moved from school to school. He discovers that this is because he's a demi-God, son of one of the Greek Gods who are still alive and well and living on top of the Empire State Building. Only problem is that monsters are after him, Zeus (Sean Bean) thinks that Percy stole his all-powerful Lightning Bolt and he's being moved to a new school / summer camp for demi-gods like himself.

So far, so non-spoilerific, but this trailer reveals which God is Percy's father (his mum's Catherine Keener), which in the book was a revelation that came relatively late on, and also shows glimpses of some very late-third-act action scenes. Still, if your loins are properly girded you should pull through, and there are some key scenes not even hinted at here.

Percy Jackson and the Thank God We've Shortened The Title To Something Sensible Now is out on February 12, 2010 in the UK and US.

my god
against all my better judgement, that trailer rocked! rockin' cast and action looks good too. although it was kinda obvious after about 5 seconds who his father was, no need to spell it out! More
