Clash Of The Titans Trailer Debuts!
Swords and sandals and giant scorpions

11 November 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Yahoo Movies

submit to reddit

You know what this morning needs? Giant scorpions and rock music, that's what. So it is with immense joy that we can bring you the Clash of the Titans teaser trailer, delivering both in a veritable rock-and-scorpion cornucopia - with a side-order of Sam Worthington making leather mini-skirts look manly.

Worthington, of course, plays Perseus, the demi-god son of Zeus (Liam Neeson) who's pissed off at Daddy and determined to both thwart his plans and rescue a princess, Andromeda (Alexa Davalos) who's going to be sacrificed to the monstrous Kraken. He does this by taking on a succession of different monsters in order to prepare for the Kraken.

Of course, you're not going to get any of that from this teaser. What you'll get here is a)anger; b)rawk; c)people running; d) giant freakin' scorpions; e)swordplay; f) screaming; g) Neesom getting cross; h)Worthington staying cross; i)giant freakin' scorpions. It's probably fair to say that this will be considerably faster paced than the Ray Harryhausen and Desmond Davis 1981 original.

Clash of the Scorpions Titans is out on March 26, 2010, and we'll hopefully get a full trailer with actual, y'know, plot and dialogue sometime around Christmas.

Looks good!
After reading the feature on this movie in the magazine, i wasn't too fussed but I just watched this trailer 4 times in a row and it looks incredible. Although it's only a teaser so it might not be as good as it does here, I am going to re-read that article and see this film when it comes out in all of its giant-scorpion glory More

It's a TEASER trailer, folks. Not the real thing
What else do you expect from a teaser? It had Perseus, the scorpioks, Pegasus, Medusa, Zeus, Hades, Sheik Suleiman, Andromeda being sacrificed to the Kraken, Calibos. Io, Prokopion (leader of the Zealots), a rocking soundtrack, some great visuals and Pete Poselthwaite. What more could you wish for? Granted the 'Titans Will Clash' tagline was a little... 'meh', but other than that it does exactly what it says on the tin. Go back and look at other 'teasers' and see which ones give you so much in s More

RE: It's a TEASER trailer, folks. Not the real thing
I cannot believe the negativity over a TEASER?!! yes I have fond memories over the original (though I preferred Jason), but the teaser pushed all the right buttons for me. It shows just enough to pique interest and the Rock track is fine... The full trailer may well use the movie's soundtrack or it may not, I care not.. but what it will do is then show us what to truly expect in terms of characters and dialogue. Until then I am finding this trailer FUN (which is what all films b More

Awful Trailer
That trailer was very badly put together. That crappy rawk score over the top of it and the blinding editing combined to create confusion rather than awe. For God's sake, take your time and show us the world you've created and the characters in it. That they've tried to hide it like this doesn't bode well. It makes me think they've got a stinker on their hands and they know it and they don't want us to notice. More

RE: And the original was accurate was it?
The Music is just bad music regardless of genre. I can see what they were aiming for. The 300 teaser, but it had buildup and a kind of flowed with the music and the music was well chosen and had a kind of arc to it. Here it's just kind of a generic noise and beat and the edits are forced to it. More

And the original was accurate was it?
You'd think by the mass hysteria that the original was some sort of historical epic - the fact it completely eschews the mythology of Perseus, Medusa and Pegasus so as to be almost a completely original story - a fact I remember quite well when it came out when all the Greek historians cried foul over its authenticity. There is no Calibos, the head of Medusa is not used to kill the the monster (which was a whale called Cetus by the way) Perseus used her head to kill Polydectes who was king More

Plot and dialogue?! Who needs that nonsense when you have men in sandals fighting giant scorpions to a generic heavy rock soundtrack. You can see that they're really trying to catch the mood of that fantastic 300 trailer from a while back ("THIS IS SPARTA!!!"). This is a movie from the man who brought you The Incredible Hulk and Transporter 2, so depth probably isn't much of a priority. Trailer was enjoyable though, so I'm looking forward to seeing more. Trailer was cut far too quick to make sense of what was actually going on action wise, the effects look good though, especially as by Hollywood terms it doesn't have the biggest budget ever.
