How To Train Your Dragon Trailer
Meet Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

How To Train Your Dragon Trailer

The full trailer for Dreamworks' 3D animated extravaganza How to Train Your Dragon has just gone online over at Yahoo. Go and have a look. We'll still be here when you get back.

Adapted from the first of Cressida Cowell's ace novels, it's the story of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a bookish Viking who finds he's not altogether on board with the whole dragon-killing Viking ethos, when he befriends cute fire-breather Toothless. Not a good idea when failing the Dragon Initiation Programme results in exile from your tribe.

The voice cast includes Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, Gerard Butler as his father Stoick the Vast, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Hiccup's best friend Fishlegs, and Craig Ferguson as pirate trainer Gobber the Belch.

Not a great deal of Viking verisimilitude on display here: Hooligan Village on the island of Berk (not far from Cannibal Island and Meathead Island) unsurprisingly looks like it'd be at home in the fairytale fantasy world of the Shrek films. But Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, who were behind Lilo and Stitch, look to have produced a fun adventure. There are eight books in the series so far, so expect further instalments. This one's out on March 31st.

first off...
Jay Baruchel is Canadian. Secondly this looks like another pretty but ultimately soulless effort from Dreamworks. Still, the kids'll love it. ... Read More

I hate Saw, Twilight and Martin Lawrence films from the early/mid 2000's, I sat in the cinema and was bombarded with a president dancing to Axel F for 4 minutes, lots of very very low brow jokes and pop culture references and no characterisation whatsoever, I had no interest in the protagonists or their adventures, Monsters Vs Aliens was a crushing disappointment. ... Read More

Almost awesome
If the word train were replaced with paint... then we're onto a winner. that book would make a.. well probably have to be like a trilogy or something cause there's a lot goes on there, but it'd be awesome still. That said, this could be good. I'm liking Stoick the Vast. Brilliant name. and apt for Mr Butler ... Read More

ethaniel: I'm going to assume you mistyped or got your wires crossed because you appear to have implied that the awesome Monsters Vs Aliens was a "bad" film. That or you are a masochist and only enjoy things like Saw CMXVIII and Big Momma's High School Musical at Twilight 3: The Begining Part II? ... Read More

Looks Okay.
Saw the trailer, yeah it looks alright and would be booking my ticket to go and see it. Grahpics are good, seems funny and entertaining for kids/adults at the time being. Got a great cast of voice overs so yep, I'm up for it. ... Read More

I think it looks like the prettiest Dreamworks anim yet. Lovely to look at. Ok, so the two leads are Yanks, but hopefully there'll be some more Euro-centric support. ... Read More

Good but
I really like the story and it's beautiful animation. It's just a shame the 2 young leads are voiced by Americans. I guess there's somethings you just can't change in the movie industry, ie Americans are the good guys, everyone else are the villains. ... Read More
